| If you have a patient on the fence whether to do a smile makeover or have a large restoration case, we suggest doing a pre-operative wax-up. Diagnostic wax-ups are also named white wax-ups. We at Patriot Dental Laboratory use two different type of waxes, one is more translucent to replicate the incisal aspect in a natural tooth. An anatomical wax-up is made out of a gray colored wax and shows in real detail the texture, anatomy and contours of what a final restoration will appear like. If you have a patient on the fence about whether to spend the money or get the restorative treatment plan completed, a diagnostic (white) wax-up usually bends that patient to completing the treatment. If a smile makeover or a large anterior case is desired by your patient, a diagnostic or anatomical wax-up is highly recommended for planning purposes. If you decide on including a wax up in your treatment plan. you will receive the following: an accurate wax-up, a putty impression of the wax-up to be used as a matrix for your temporaries (shown below), a clear stint of the wax-up (shown below) to used for making sure you've prepped enough to accurately replicate the wax-up. We try to keep wax-ups as affordable as possible because through the years of being in the dental lab industry, we've found that wax-ups alleviate any problems you may encounter while completing the case for your patient. |
